Confidential Laboratory
This renovation transformed the existing third-floor space into a high-performance toxin biomaterial laboratory, engineered to support rigorous daily use while meeting a hygienic, modern design vision.
The modernization includes additions of reinforced flooring by Gerflor, with distinct selections of Mipolam Accord used for the main floor and safety shower areas. The addition of mobile casework enhances the lab’s flexibility, efficiency, and long-term value, allowing the layout to evolve alongside changing research needs and safety protocols.
The casework’s crisp white, green, and black palette, anchored by Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace and an accent of Sherman Williams’ Lime Rickey, reinforces a clean, performance-forward aesthetic.
Fundermax’s Max Resistance² phenolic work surfaces in Deep Black were specified for all mobile casework tops and work surfaces, delivering a durable, easy-to-maintain solution well-suited for active research environments. Max Resistance² performs well in zones where durability and hygiene are as critical as layout flexibility.
The material’s high-density core and patented surface layer help protect against spills, stains, and surface degradation, qualities which are especially crucial in spaces with frequent chemical handling. The demanding space also benefits from chemical-, bacteria-, moisture-, scratch-, and impact-resistance, as well as lightweight and cleanability. Not only does this protect the material’s integrity for long-term performance, but ensures lasting visual consistency.
By supplying the new casework with reliable speed, Fundermax helped keep the renovation on budget and on schedule, supporting CPCArchitects and JR Universal Construction in delivering the upgraded lab space efficiently. The result is a resilient, adaptable laboratory environment designed to serve its occupants for years to come.
