D.C. Bilingual Public Charter School

Washington, D.C.

D.C. Bilingual Public Charter School is a fast-growing bilingual school serving grades PreK3 – 5.

According to their website, "Founded in 2004, DC Bilingual provides an innovative dual immersion Spanish and English learning program for all students, regardless of their home language. Through our rigorous academic curriculum, comprehensive arts, technology, and athletics programs, and our celebration of diverse cultures, DC Bilingual’s students learn the skills and values they need to become influential participants in their community."

According to Construction Management Company Gilbane, "This project provides DC Bilingual students with improved spaces for indoor and outdoor play, featuring an expanded gym, outdoor playgrounds and covered play space. Flexible collaboration spaces include a larger stage and retractable wall in the updated gym, indoor multipurpose areas and a variety of new workspaces for teachers and staff. The DC Bilingual project is targeting LEED Gold and not only prioritizes positive impacts on health and well-being but safety as well. Heightened security measures include streamlined entry points, a new sidewalk around the parking lot perimeter and a new traffic pattern."

Hord Coplan Macht was recognized for their amazing work on D.C. Bilingual Public School and was awarded a 2024 Chapter Design Award from AIA | DC. This exciting award highlights HCM's innovative design and sustainable efforts on this project.

How Max Compact Exterior Panels Added Value

Fundermax was chosen because of our low-maintenance, durable, sustainable, and versatile panels. The design team was able to use our panels in varying orientations, creating a herringbone pattern and a custom perforated design.

"Everyone's just over the moon with how this project turned out - from architect to owner to contractor, it really seemed like a fantastic process from start to finish." - Chris Peterson, AIA, Project Architect for D.C. Bilingual.
